WASHINGTON, DC –Today, WPA Intelligence, a national leader in data science, survey research and digital strategy, is pleased to announce the promotion of Matthew Knee to the role of Director of Analytics. His years of experience in leading analytics production and data science teams will continue to serve our clients at WPAi.
Matthew joined WPAi in 2018 as our Director of Campaign Data Solutions and Senior Data Scientist. During the 2018 election cycle, he designed the Reed Award winning WPAi Guided Analytics System, the WPAi Daily Tracking Models system, and other products. He also provided analytics to countless political and non-political clients.
During his time as an advisor to the RNC, Matthew’s role as a data science consultant was instrumental to
the development of the Voter Scores Program. Mathew helped design many of the cutting-edge approaches to modeling, universe creation, and analytics that allowed the RNC to leapfrog the Democrats data operation.
Matthew received numerous awards for his work, such as the 40 Under 40 award from the American Association of Political Consultants. For his products, his work for 2014 Mitch McConnell Senate reelection, and his RNC work, his projects also earned “Best Use of New Technology,” “Best Data Analytics Solution,” and “Best GOTV Execution” Reed Awards and four Pollie awards for “Best Use of Analytics” in the 2014, 2016, and 2018 cycles. These awards account for half of the Best Use of Analytics awards during these three on-cycle years. Matthew has also served as Chief Data Scientist at TargetPoint Consulting and principal at MRK Strategic.
“Matt may be the most experienced data scientist in GOP politics. He brings years of expertise and political acumen to WPAi. The innovative work he has pioneered coupled with his deep understanding of our proprietary processes are invaluable, providing even greater competitive advantage to our clients,” said Chris Wilson, CEO of WPAi.
Matthew added, “I am excited to continue working with the best data and analytics team in conservative politics today. With the team we have in place, I look forward to elevating the industry standard and providing our clients with the best analytic solutions possible.”
Since 1998, WPA Intelligence has been a leading provider of survey research, predictive analytics and technology for corporations, educational institutions, public affairs programs, non-profits and campaigns from President to Governor, U.S. Senate, and local elections in all 50 states and multiple foreign countries. In the 2017-2018 cycle, WPAi’s polling and data plotted the course for multiple winning Senate, Governor’s races and House campaigns.
WPAi’s data and analytics continue to lead the industry. In the 2016 Republican primary for president, arguably the most unprecedented presidential contest by way of turnout and political environment volatility, WPAi accurately projected turnout and the ballot score in 42 states through the use of advanced, predictive analytics. In 2018 our predictive analytics tools were a key element of the RNC Voter Scores program and predicted the margins in numerous races with unmatched accuracy.
In 2019 WPAi launched a corresponding digital practice providing clients the ability to take insights further through online persuasion and mobilization advertising. This is an offering through which WPAi is uniquely adept, able to assist with the development and deployment of data models to ensure full quality control of any executed program. By integrating opinion research, data analytics, digital strategy and placement, WPAi provides clients with an end-to-end campaign approach.
WPAi has been nationally recognized for providing cutting edge intelligence to help our clients win. The American Association of Political Consultants (AAPC) awarded WPAi “Pollies” for our Predictive Analytics and Adaptive Sampling techniques and our groundbreaking data-focused social media application “Leonardo.” In addition, WPAi received a “Reed Award” for building the most expansive, optimized field program in GOP politics on behalf of Abbott for Governor in 2018.
